Sustainability & Social Value

Our approach at Tarvin Precision is built around people, place and planet. We put people at the centre through a strong focus on safety, skills development and a supportive working culture, because consistent quality starts with a capable team. We also stay connected to our place via the local community in Deeside and the wider North Wales area, supporting local schools, charities and grassroots sport. For planet, we take a practical, continuous-improvement approach – reducing waste where we can, recycling responsibly and selecting shop-floor processes and consumables with a lower environmental impact wherever it’s feasible.

Jobs & Skills

We believe jobs and skills are about building long-term capability – both within our team and in the wider local engineering talent pipeline. Precision manufacturing depends on consistency, attention to detail and continuous learning, so we focus on creating a workplace where people can develop their skills over time, take pride in their work, and contribute to quality at every step.

That starts with early exposure to engineering through work experience placements, and extends through to apprenticeships and ongoing training for existing staff, helping people progress as their responsibilities grow – whether that’s strengthening CAD/CAM capability, deepening machining knowledge, or developing quality and inspection understanding.

We also see skills development as something that should open doors. Over the years, people who’ve worked at Tarvin have gone on to build careers in fields as diverse as helicopter design and Formula One engineering – a reflection of how strong foundational manufacturing skills can translate into high-performance sectors. By supporting structured development and real-world experience, we aim to play a practical role in strengthening engineering skills locally while maintaining the standards our customers rely on.

Community Engagement

We take an active, consistent role in the area we’re part of, supporting local causes and initiatives in practical ways. We’re proud to contribute to the Deeside and wider North Wales community through a mix of fundraising, sponsorship and support for local education, and we encourage a culture where people get involved and back good work happening on our doorstep.

We support the incredible work of Hope House and Tŷ Gobaith Children’s Hospices, including fundraising as a Champion for their Quality Moments Matter campaign. Alongside this, we sponsor an award at Hawarden High School to recognise achievement and encourage ambition, and we support grassroots sport through local football sponsorship – tangible commitments that reflect the kind of community we want to be part of.

Environmental Sustainability

We take practical, shop-floor actions that reduce waste and minimise environmental impact over time. One practical example is our standardised use of Kluthe oil-free, water-soluble coolant for our CNC machines, chosen for its cleaner running and formulation designed with health, safety and environmental impact in mind. Alongside this, we prioritise sensible waste reduction across the business through recycling and responsible segregation of materials and consumables, aiming for continuous improvements that make a measurable difference without compromising quality or reliability.

Ethical & Local Supply Chain

An ethical supply chain starts with doing the basics properly and consistently. Our quality systems and the standards we work to mean traceability and accountability are embedded into how we purchase, process and deliver work, with material control, documentation and supplier management forming part of day-to-day operations. This focus on traceability helps ensure we can evidence what’s been used, where it came from, and how it’s been handled, supporting customer requirements and responsible procurement.

Alongside this, we place real value on supporting the local economy where it makes sense to do so. Wherever practical, we work with local businesses for services that keep the company running and visible in the community, such as the recent rebrand of our vans, delivered through a local supplier. It’s a simple example, but it reflects a wider approach: keeping spend and skills in the region, building relationships with nearby suppliers, and choosing partners who deliver reliably and professionally.
